Unpaved Road

V.  UNPAVED ROADS.

Designed for the challenges of civil engineering Neoloy geocells are a new standard in road base reinforcement and ground improvement. Created from Neoloy, a novel polymeric alloy, Neoloy is the only geocell designed for heavy-duty road pavements, such as highways, railways, and working platforms.

The high modulus Neoloy reinforces pavement bases and/or subgrades while increasing the modulus of infill. This enables the use of lower grade infill in the structural pavement and reduces the layer thickness to save road base construction costs. Neoloy geocells also extend the lifespan of the road pavement, thereby reducing maintenance and lifecycle costs

5.1. Applications in Unpaved Roads

5.2. Advantages in Unpaved Roads

Technically

  • Increase subgrade CBR
  • High modulus improvement factor (MIF)
  • Reduce layer thickness – including asphalt layer
  • Reduce vertical stress
  • Decrease differential settlement
  • Allow more traffic and heavier axle loads

In terms of construction:

Economically:

  • Reduce highway construction costs – for infill and earthworks
  • Reduce maintenance costs – less overlays and longer rehabilitation cycles
  • Lower total costs – by extending pavement design

Environmental:

  • Green solution – uses local and/or recycled materials
  • Reduce environmental impact of highway construction- less hauling, placement, compaction, pollution
  • Long-term design life reduces highway maintenance cycles and their impact.
